My Mandala

Picture
The old willow’s loose limbs sway to the soft rain in the early morning. Tall grass fights furiously against the hard wind. A girl jumps into the early morning air, happy and confident. The daisy field beneath her lies there, simple and beautiful; as they grow, the daisies share that simplicity is the best kind of beauty.  The orange in the sky represents warmth, purple is honor, pink speaks for love, yellow is hope, and blue symbolizes life.

My mandala shows my beliefs, my hopes, my interests, and what I love most in life. This drawing speaks for me. It is free form because my life is a puzzle, and it’s my job to solve that puzzle. Life is about surprises; I believe that if you’ve already solved the puzzle, there’s no point to life. In my drawing, the colorful sky shows the imperfect world that I live in; it can be a beautiful light, and in a split second, it can turn into a confined darkness. Drooping branches that dance around willow trees symbolize a magical protection. Clouds represent the beautiful rain; it shows that bad things can be beautiful. It shows that without bad things, we’d take everything for granted. It teaches a lesson in a beautiful way. Daisies represent my family and friends; they are loyal, loving, pure, and patient. A girl jumping into the air speaks for freedom and hope.

The sunrise shows that every day is a new one; it shows that life gives another chance every day. My mandala expresses who I am, and why I love what I love. I love sunrises, I love how nature speaks to me, I love how the rain teaches a lesson, I love how daisies dance, and I absolutely love how my life is so imperfect, that it is perfect.

Hi, I am Alyssa, and I am in the seventh grade at Stevenson School. I love to play tennis, ski, read, and listen to music. I have two great brothers. I also an amazing Boston Terrior dog, his name is Arrow. I appreciate and respect my friends and family. I would stand up for my family, my friends, any person, and my integrity. I would say that my strongest characteristic is that I am open-minded.

Quotes!

One of my favorite hobbies is to look up quotes
on the internet and in books. It is so much fun!

"Life isn't about waiting
 for the storm to pass...
It's about learning
how to dance in the rain."

"Work like you don't need the money
Love like you've never been hurt
and Dance like nobody's watching"

"Love means giving someone
 the chance to hurt you,
but trusting them not to."

"The only time you run out of chances
is when you stop taking them."

"Every day's a gift.
That's why they call it the present"

"When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry,
Show life a thousand reasons to smile"

"Laugh as much as you breathe
and Love as long as you live"

"HOMEWORK HURTS TREES"

"Friendship isn't about
who you have known the longest,
 it's about who came
and never left your side."

VACATION SPOTS!!

Yellowstone Club, Montana

Picture
I love Yellowstone club. It's a private ski resort that my family was allowed in. It's got great little candy shacks with lots of yummy candy, and great skiing! I've been to many ski places but this is my  favorite! The ski picture you see to the left is a picture of one of my favorite runs to go on. The first time I went on it was a little scary but when I got to the bottom, I realized that it was easier than it looked

Kauai, Hawaii

Picture
I went to Kauai Hawaii for a couple Thanksgivings and I had a blast! There was warm water, pretty sites, and fun activites. I hope that we can go back soon.

Snowbird, Utah

Picture
Going skiing in Snowbird, Utah has been a traditional ski trip with our family since I was three years old. I have met so many great people there! Sometimes people come with us... Some people like to call it Skibird. The picture to the left is a tram. Lots of people ride it to the top of the mountain. There are many fun sites like the Underwear Tree, and the Mardi Gras Tree. I love Snowbird!

Hamptons, Long Island

Picture
I have been going to the Hamptons on Long Island for every year in my entire life. It is so beautiful! There is tennis, baseball (I used to play), swimming, and biking. Our cousins come to meet us every . It is a lot of fun! We ride our bikes almost everywhere. There are so many stories that took place in the Hamptons. One time it burning hot, and in a minute it was a huge thunderstorm. At the end of the strom, it went back to being hot but the dead end on our street was flooded so we played in there.
